Ground stations are part of an integrated system for time-critical communication, navigation and surveillance services. The ground station supports a wide range of applications and communicates with airborne and ground-based mobile users.
VDL 2000/GSI
The VDL 2000/GSI is tailored for ground handling and coordination of all vehicle activities at the airport. The functionality of the ground station guarantees that each user has access to the latest information in real time, enabling maximum use of collaborative decision Making (CDM). The ground station is part of the Airport Organiser, an integrated system for communication, navigation and surveillance services.
The ground station operates in accordance with the ICAO standard for VDL Mode 4 digital radio link, offering a robust and reliable communication platform for all airport vehicles operating in the manoeuvring and apron area.
The system has long range at low power and very good transmission characteristics on ground at airports where the radio environment is a tough challenge.
