Elektronik Lab’s latest milestone is the DNV CLASS-A Type Approval of its GMDSS Simulator “MARCOM”.
With a motto of “Training Thru Simulators” ELAB has been in the forefront of maritime software development since 2002. It has focused primarily on harnessing the power of software simulations to provide hands-on training for various elements of Communication, Navigation and Cargo Handling.
MARCOM, incorporates all the latest models of SAILOR Thrane & Thrane GMDSS equipments. It exceeeds the requirements of IMO Resolution A.703(17) in terms of physical and behavioural realism and the opearting environments. It also ensures correct and efficient training of all the GMDSS equipment subsystems as specified in the IMO Model course 1.25 & 1.26 and STCW 2010 convention, Regulations I/12. MARCOM facilitates integrated communication through networking.
ELAB’s GMDSS Simulator has been installed and successfully being used by the Indian Maritime University and 10 other Maritime Universities & colleges across India. The GMDSS simulator has also been approved by the Indian maritime regulators, The Director General of Shipping as well.
“With the DNV type-approval of our GMDSS Simulator, we will now go global. Our GMDSS simulator will be “low on cost & high on training value“ and will be definitely amongst the best in the world.” says the Director of Elektronik Lab, Mr. K. Nanda Kumar.
Few Unique features of the MARCOM GMDSS Simulator is the introduction of Propagation Algorithm. This facilitates VHF / MF/ HF to communicate based on the propagation constraints including distance, frequency and time of day. This will be very useful for realistic “onboard like” training of the students. The simulator is also able of generate faults / set limitations for each equipment so as to test the troubleshooting knowledge of the students as well.
Marcom simulator can be networked to upto 24 stations with a choice of 1 or 2 instructor stations.
