SCOUT USBL Transceiver

The Type 8024 USBL transceiver is a lightweight, portable acoustic transmitter and receiver designed for use with Scout and Ranger USBL systems. Power and communications are provided by a subsea connector. Constructed in Aluminium alloy, it is designed to be deployed from a vessel, typically on a pole over the side. An Aluminium Bronze version is available for permanent or through hull installations.

The transceiver interrogates various transponder beacons, captures their replies and calculates the range, bearing and declination to the target to determine the x,y,z position relative the transceiver. Multiple targets can be positioned simultaneously. To compensate for motion of the transceiver (due dynamic motion of the vessel for example) the transceiver includes a fully compensated pitch/roll and magnetic heading sensor.
