Fleet Management system is a powerful web-based service providing a highly
effective way of automatically tracking vessel movements
in real time. It was originally developed in close consultation
with Sealand, a major US maritime transportation group prior
to its acquisition by Maersk, and has since become the satellite
tracking system of choice for 500 carriers operating 10,000
vessels.
The system utilizes the GMDSS Sat-C terminal
already installed on most ocean-going vessels, or specialized
GPS-enabled satellite tracking terminals including Inmarsat
D+, Mini C, and Iridium.
Who would use it, and for what purpose?
Personnel involved in fleet operations,
safety, and customer service use the system to improve
overall operational efficiencies

Inmarsat D
Integration of a specialized GPS-enabled
Inmarsat D+ terminal requires a simple installation involving
external mounting and a power connection. The skills required
are well within the capabilities of a crew member with
basic electrical experience.

Inmarsat C
Integration of existing Inmarsat-C terminals
is very straight forward. For each vessel you need to
provide Pole Star with the following information
- Inmarsat C terminal number
- Terminal serial number
- IMO number
The system utilizes the GMDSS Sat-C
terminal already installed on most ocean-going vessels,
or specialized GPS-enabled satellite tracking terminals
including Inmarsat D+, Mini C, and Iridium.
