requirements fully come into force on 1.2.1999. Thereafter,
it will not be mandatory to carry two-tone alarm generator
and 2182 Khz.
Watch Receiver. It is felt that these equipment may not
be dispensed with till GMDSS system is firmly established
on coast of India. Accordingly, all Indian Merchant Vessels
plying in Area A3 on the coast of India are required to
comply with following requirements until further notice:
A functional device for
generating the radiotelephone alarm signal on the frequency
of 2182 Khz.
A functional radio installation consisting
of a radiotelephone distress frequency watch receiver capable
of operating on 2182 Khz.
